John Mannion

EVP, Director of Client Relations, San Francisco

John’s been leading high-power teams of B2B and technology marketers and clients for over 18 years. He originally joined Doremus in 1999, then left to help guide HP & Compaq’s enterprise computing divisions through the biggest merger in Silicon Valley history, and rejoined Doremus in 2003.

A unique blend of creative business guy and client advocate, John has led teams on Tektronix, Honeywell, Corning, Rosetta Stone, Saba, Varian, and TSMC for years. Each one has carved out a unique space, a unique voice, and a unique business proposition under his stewardship.

Before Doremus, John led the in-house corporate communications team at Cadence Design Systems, taking the company from $500M to over $1.2B and creating a distinctive marketing proposition for the organization that was noticed by Wall Street and countless creative and marketing communications awards, as well.

He was at the seminal agency, Carlick Advertising / Poppe Tyson / Modem Media in the early 1990s, working on SGI, Toshiba, Kawasaki, Gateway, Gallo, and The White House. He rode the wild ride of internet explosion as that agency extended into the Bozell network, leveraging the integrated marketing communications promise to clients around the world. He’s also spent time with DDB, Grey, and other world-class agencies.

Thanks to seven years as a traveling improv comedian, John’s performed with people from Saturday Night Live, Second City, the Groundlings, and was invited to audition for MadTV. He has a B.A. in Communication from Stanford University and spends as much time as possible with his wife and two little girls.
