Doremus San Francisco Ignites Imagination —
Creates “A Day Made of Glass” for Corning Incorporated
(Innovative film gives viewers a new perception of glass technologies
and a new appreciation for Corning's capabilities.)
February 24, 2011
San Francisco‚ February 24‚ 2011: Doremus San Francisco, BtoB magazine’s “top agency,” has created an imaginative short film for Corning Incorporated, the world leader in specialty glass and ceramics. The piece demonstrates an incredible array of technological possibilities for glass use, both now and into the near future.
“A Day Made of Glass” is currently running on Corning’s website and has already garnered over 3 million hits on YouTube. It showcases Corning’s vision of a world in which highly engineered glass plays an increasingly vital role. From home to car to work and beyond, the film follows a family — Mom, Dad, two daughters and even Grandma — as they move through their day, made smarter and easier thanks to the glass innovations created by Corning.
Corning Incorporated is a 160-year-old glassmaker that remains at the forefront of innovation by creating paths to bring new ideas forward. “A Day Made of Glass” is targeted to Corning’s key stakeholders — investors, existing customers, prospective customers, and employees.
Whether it be high-strength, durable (damage / heat resistant), thin, flexible, formable, photovoltaic, IC (semi conductor), solid state lighting, or fiber optic glass, the film uses computer generated imagery (CGI) to show each glass treatment as part of a futuristic device (that may soon be available). “A Day Made of Glass” has generated over 18,000 views on YouTube in the first two days it’s been available.
John Mannion, Doremus, Director of Client Relations, said, “Corning has been around a century and a half, yet they’re still forging new paths in glass innovation. This film is designed to send viewers away with a new appreciation for glass, for Corning, and an excitement about the products and breakthroughs that are shaping our daily lives.”
Dan Collins, Division Vice President of Corning Corporate Communications, said, “The future is now, and Corning is committed to being part of that future with innovations in glass that make all of our lives easier and more elegant. ‘A Day Made of Glass’ depicts that message very nicely. Feedback from investors, internal audiences, and the public-at-large has been extremely positive.”
